On the afternoon of the 8th, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the ‘2024 Chungbuk Direct Market’ held at Junggye Neighborhood Park in Nowon-gu, Seoul.
The ‘Chungbuk Direct Market’ was organized to promote win-win cooperation between Chungcheongbuk-do and the residents of Nowon-gu, aiming to increase the income of Chungbuk farmers. Producer groups of agricultural specialties from 11 cities and counties within Chungbuk participate, directly offering over 50 types of specialties such as ginseng, jujube, apples, and chestnuts to the residents of Nowon-gu.
The market operates at Junggye Neighborhood Park until 2 p.m. on the 9th, where various Chungbuk specialties can be purchased at reasonable prices.
In particular, as an event, customers who purchase more than 30,000 won will be given 500g of freshly harvested rice from Chungbuk on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, various side events such as quiz contests and apple peeling competitions were held, receiving great responses from visitors.
At the event, a donation ceremony took place with the attendance of Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, Yang Gwang-seok, President of the Korea Successor Farmers Association Chungbuk Branch, and Kim Tae-jin, President of the Nowon-gu Chungcheong Alumni Association. To commemorate cooperation with Nowon-gu, goods worth approximately 2 million won were donated, conveying support and the spirit of coexistence to the local community.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, “Regular customers have been formed at the annual direct market, and the residents’ positive response makes me feel rewarded. We will continue to establish direct markets that residents can trust and visit, expanding opportunities for urban-rural win-win cooperation.”
