Expressing Complex Feelings by Mentioning the 'People's Right to Resist'

Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, who referred to President Yoon Suk-yeol's press conference as the "last chance," lamented, "I don't think we can have any more forced expectations." Yoo left a lingering impression, saying, "Among the many words, the phrase 'the ultimate constitutional defenders are the people's right to resist' suddenly stood out in my memory."

On the 8th, Yoo shared his thoughts on President Yoon's press conference through social media (SNS).

Regarding the press conference, Yoo evaluated, "President Yoon fulfilled the 'duty of a real man to protect his woman to the end,'" adding, "The public expected an apology and reform measures concerning Mrs. Kim's issues, but the president was busy defending his 'woman.'

As for the logic used in explanations related to interference in candidate selection and other matters, he said, "All sorts of sophistry ran rampant," and added, "Interference in candidate selection and state affairs manipulation might require rewriting the definitions in the Korean dictionary." He also criticized the attitude during the press conference. He said, "The content was problematic, but the use of informal speech and vulgar language, as well as the posture and attitude, were far from showing sincere apology and commitment to reform," and asked, "Shouldn't the president have at least maintained the minimum dignity in dealing with the people as the head of state?"

Yoo said, "Changing the phone belatedly and Mrs. Kim not attending the South America tour?do you think the public will be convinced by that?" He continued, "The president repeatedly emphasized the distinction between public and private matters and the principle of putting public affairs first, but to become a truly real man president, shouldn't he follow the 大義 (great cause)?" He added, "I am worried that yesterday's final debate might be the end of conservatism."

At the end of his SNS post, Yoo mentioned, "Among the many words, the phrase 'the ultimate constitutional defenders are the people's right to resist' suddenly stood out in my memory."
