Following the opening ceremony, key attendees including Shim Jae-guk, Governor of Pyeongchang-gun, Nam Jin-sam, Chairman of the Pyeongchang County Council, and Choi Ki-seong, Chairman of the Pyeongchang Highland Kimchi Festival Committee, participated together in the kimchi-making experience at the festival site.

First held in 2016, the Pyeongchang Highland Kimchi Festival allows visitors to conveniently make kimchi using high-quality and delicious Pyeongchang agricultural products, leading to a growing number of visitors each year. On this day, as the peak kimchi-making season arrived, friends and family visitors eager to make kimchi with affordable Pyeongchang highland napa cabbage continued to arrive at the festival site. This year’s festival, held over ten days until the 17th, prepared 150 tons of salted napa cabbage.

Governor Shim Jae-guk of Pyeongchang said, “The Pyeongchang Highland Kimchi Festival is loved every year thanks to premium agricultural products such as highland napa cabbage and radishes grown under the natural conditions at an altitude of 700 meters.” He added, “Especially this year, with rising napa cabbage prices and increased interest in kimchi-making, I hope this event will serve as an opportunity to further promote Pyeongchang’s excellent highland napa cabbage.”
