Expansion of Exchanges in Infant and Toddler Childcare Settings
Ungsang Branch Office in Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam, announced that Yangsan Ihwa Daycare Center (Director Park Seongsun), selected for the 2024 Early Childhood School pilot project, held a lesson-sharing session on the 29th of last month to create an exchange platform with kindergartens and daycare centers in Gyeongnam Province.
Early Childhood School is a project promoted by the Ministry of Education to seek and spread a desirable integration model and to raise the level of early childhood education and care services ahead of the integration of kindergarten and daycare. Through a public recruitment in August, 152 kindergartens and daycare centers nationwide were selected.
In Gyeongnam Province, three daycare centers (Yangsan-si, Gimhae-si, Changwon-si) and one kindergarten (Jinju-si) were selected. The project promotes additional placement of assistant teachers to optimize the teacher-to-child ratio, teacher capacity building, and eco-friendly play experience education as a Gyeongnam Province specialty program. Lesson sharing is part of the annual Lesson Sharing Festival conducted in kindergartens, elementary schools, and middle schools to spread future-oriented lessons, strengthen cooperation among educational communities, and foster a growing teaching culture through sharing lesson cases.
The lesson conducted by teacher Lee Sumi on that day was themed “Freely Enjoying Paint Play in Daily Life.” She presented the actual lesson activity process and impressions, and about 20 staff members from the Gyeongnam Office of Education’s Kindergarten-Daycare Integration Promotion Team, Jangyu Daycare Center in Gimhae-si, as well as kindergartens and daycare centers located in Yangsan-si, directly experienced paint play.

Kim Mikyung, Director of the Culture and Welfare Division, said, “I appreciate the passion and hard work of the directors and teachers who participated in the Early Childhood School project and lesson sharing.” She added, “Having directly experienced the childcare field, I saw hope that our children’s future is bright. I ask for your continued support so that the children can grow up bright and healthy.”
