First Lady Kim Keon-hee, wife of President Yoon Suk-yeol, has decided not to accompany President Yoon on his next overseas trip.
A senior official from the presidential office stated on the 8th at the Yongsan Presidential Office during a meeting with reporters, "Mrs. Kim will not accompany (President Yoon Suk-yeol) on the next trip."
The official explained, "This is a follow-up measure to the president's address and press conference yesterday."
Earlier, at a press conference the previous day, President Yoon said regarding Mrs. Kim's external activities, "Based on the judgment of myself and key aides, activities that are not essential to the national interest have been practically suspended and will continue to be suspended."
President Yoon also said, "Since external activities are visible to the public, I believe that if the public likes them, they should continue, and if the public dislikes them, they should not."
President Yoon is scheduled to embark on a multilateral diplomatic trip in mid-month.
