Leading business figures from South Korea will visit Washington DC next month under the auspices of the Korea Economic Association (HanKyungHyup) to meet with political and business leaders in the United States.
According to the business community on the 7th, the 35th Korea-US Business Council meeting, organized by HanKyungHyup and the American Chamber of Commerce, will be held in early second week of next month in Washington DC. This will be the first Korea-US Business Council meeting held since Ryu Jin took office as chairman of HanKyungHyup.
The meeting is attracting even more attention as political and business leaders from South Korea and the United States will meet for the first time since former President Donald Trump was elected in the 47th US presidential election. The meeting is expected to be attended by a large number of president-level executives from the four major groups including Samsung, SK, Hyundai Motor, and LG, along with Chairman Ryu, who serves as the committee chairman.
In particular, under Chairman Ryu's leadership, meetings are scheduled not only with the US Congress but also with key figures from think tanks. There is also a possibility of meeting officials from the newly formed second Trump administration. Chairman Ryu is well known as a representative 'America expert' businessman who has had exchanges with former US Presidents George HW Bush and his son George W Bush. He also attended the inauguration ceremony of former President George W Bush in 2001. It is known that he has built connections with the Trump transition team through his ties with the Bush family.
