First launched on June 5th last year to mark Environment Day, this challenge involves pledging to reduce unnecessary plastic use and posting a certification photo on social networking services (SNS). CEO Heo was nominated by Yoon Eulsik, Vice President and Medical Director of Korea University Medical Center, to participate in the challenge.
Through the company's official SNS, he expressed his intention to participate along with a post introducing the company's ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities, which transform discarded safety helmets from construction sites into products such as flowerpots and tables for reuse.
GS Construction is carrying out various eco-friendly activities. Recently, it signed an ESG business agreement with Korea University Medical Center to strengthen joint cooperation for waste recycling. The company is also reviewing the development of building materials recycled from discarded safety helmets and is currently establishing a roadmap to build a resource circulation system through plastic recycling in the future. CEO Heo stated, "As a leading ESG company, we will continue sustainable management that considers the environment and society."
Meanwhile, CEO Heo nominated Choi Soohyun, CEO of Naver; Kim Daehun, Chief Planning Officer of Hoban Group; and Park Junseong, Secretary General of the nonprofit organization True, as the next participants.
