A woman visiting a shopping mall in China caused a disturbance by throwing and breaking items.

According to local media including Guangming Online on the 6th (local time), on the 5th, a woman named Hu Zhou (22) engaged in bizarre behavior at a store located in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. She had been suffering from depression, and on that day, after visiting a hospital with her mother, she went to Taiguli, a popular shopping district in Chengdu.

While the two were shopping around various places, they suddenly started arguing loudly. Zhou had difficulty controlling her emotions and anger due to depression, and unable to hold back her anger, she began throwing items in the store. When she struck the display shelves multiple times with a flowerpot, other customers became frightened and fled outside. Zhou was later apprehended by police who arrived at the scene after a report was made, and fortunately, no casualties were reported. The footage of her rampage was captured on video and spread on social networking services (SNS). Chinese netizens who saw the video reacted with comments such as "What did the store owner and other customers do wrong?" "She seems like she needs to be hospitalized," and "I also feel sorry for her mother."

A similar incident occurred in China last September. A woman visiting a convenience store in Wuhan, Hubei Province in the south, threw items from the shelves onto the floor indiscriminately. At that time, the clerks and customers watched her behavior in disbelief, and the woman was eventually taken away by police who arrived on the scene. Earlier in March, in Guizhou Province in the southwest, a woman who appeared to be intoxicated also smashed a store.

Meanwhile, Intermittent Explosive Disorder (official name for anger control disorder) is a type of impulse control disorder characterized by an inability to rationally regulate emotions related to anger. Difficulty in emotional regulation, commonly seen in patients with depression or anxiety disorders, often causes anger control disorder. Due to a depressed mood, negative thoughts arise, and sensitivity increases even to minor matters, causing large emotional fluctuations. If destructive behavior exceeding the level of the given stimulus occurs due to the disorder, serious problems in interpersonal relationships may arise, and normal social life may become impossible. It is known that 98% of patients also suffer from depressive disorders, and 43% have anxiety disorders concurrently.
