Yeoju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that it will extend the application period for the "2024 Youth Housing Lease Deposit Interest Support Project" until the 22nd. This project has been accepting applications since October 7 and targets young household heads aged 18 to 39 who are registered residents of Yeoju City, have an annual income of 40 million KRW or less, and do not own a home. However, recipients of basic livelihood security benefits and residents of public rental housing are excluded from the support.

This support project aims to alleviate the housing cost burden for young people by providing interest support on lease deposits borrowed from financial institutions. It supports up to 1 million KRW annually based on 2% per year of the monthly loan balance. Applications can be submitted by registered mail or in person at the Yeoju City Welfare Administration Division and the Eup, Myeon, and Dong Administrative Welfare Centers.
A city official stated, "This related project is newly launched in 2024, and we expect it to ease the housing cost burden for Yeoju’s youth. It was implemented to stabilize the lives of young people and improve residential conditions."
Meanwhile, Yeoju City is also recruiting additional applicants until the 22nd for the Jeonse deposit interest support project targeting not only youth but also newlyweds.
