Cooperation in Power Facility Construction for 32 Project Districts Including 3Gisido City
Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 7th that it has established a power facility cooperation model with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) for 32 project districts nationwide, including the 3rd New Towns, last month. This is a measure to ensure timely supply of power facilities within the project districts.
At a meeting attended by the management of LH and KEPCO, the two organizations created a final cooperation model incorporating institutional improvements to prevent delays in power infrastructure construction. The number of project districts where the two organizations will jointly carry out power facility maintenance projects this year is 32.
So far, the two organizations have continuously held consultations among working-level staff to establish stable power facilities. In particular, the 3rd New Towns have a concentration of obstructive transmission facilities that need to be relocated, requiring cooperation for this purpose.
Going forward, LH and KEPCO will establish a prior consultation procedure for strategic facilities before district designation. Through this, power facility plans will be quickly finalized to shorten the project period.
They will also devise measures to streamline the processing of transmission line relocation tasks. This is to improve land use efficiency in areas with obstructive transmission facilities, such as the 3rd New Towns.
Additionally, a manager-level consultative body will be mandatorily formed for each project district. This will be operated as a permanent consultative body.
Furthermore, they plan to find ways to reduce resident opposition to power facilities. The two organizations will jointly promote research projects related to this.
Park Dong-seon, Director of the Land and Urban Headquarters at LH, said, "We have established a cooperation model with KEPCO to build stable power infrastructure and reduce the duration of national land and urban development projects," adding, "We will ensure that there are no setbacks in preparing urban infrastructure for newly developed cities such as the 3rd New Towns."
