Golf culture in Korea is gradually changing. It is shifting from a personal hobby to a family leisure activity. Golf is no longer just a pleasure for golfers but a sport to enjoy with family. Due to this change, a golf course being good alone is not enough to be the best. There must be good field conditions, food, and attractions. We introduce the ‘Field 3GO’ golf courses suitable for spending happy times with golf. This time, it is Taekwang Country Club located in Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do.
◆EnjoyGO= Taekwang CC opened an 18-hole members-only course in 1984. At that time, it was called Singal Country Club. After Taekwang Group acquired it in 1988, they expanded with an additional 9-hole members-only course in 1991 and established a 9-hole public course in 1997, making a total of 36 holes. It is a golf course loved by golfers for its pleasant environment, natural geographical location, and convenient transportation. It is a prestigious course where nature and artificial ponds harmonize. Since 2009, lighting facilities have been installed and operated on all courses.
It is an urban resting place spread over approximately 450,000 pyeong (about 1.49 million square meters) of great nature. It is only 2 minutes from Suwon IC, making accessibility excellent. The teeing grounds have bentgrass, and the fairways are zoysia grass. The course is wide and flat. However, it is a mistake to think the course is easy to conquer. Hidden handicaps within the course can cause failure. The green speed is also as high as 3.0.
The South and East courses are flat and delicate, likened to women. The West and North courses are challenging and strategic, giving a masculine impression. Among the 36 holes, 9 holes are public, allowing general members to play rounds. It is highly praised for course management equivalent to members-only courses. Various trees and wildflower complexes are actively used as course obstacles.

In the morning, dishes such as Korean beef soup, Korean beef hangover soup, Tongyeong oyster rice soup, and Western breakfast are served. For lunch and dinner, various full-course and ? la carte dishes are offered. These include premium galbitang (beef short rib soup), black goat health soup, soybean paste stew with barley dried croaker, and Jeju black pork kimchi stew. If ordered three hours in advance, you can enjoy native chicken and Neungi mushroom scorched rice soup cooked in a cauldron. There are also four set menus for group banquets.
At the start house, you can enjoy simple meals and drinks. They serve Korean beef handmade burgers, Korean beef sirloin jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and jajangbap (black bean rice), yukjeon (pan-fried beef), banquet noodles, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), jambon arugula pizza, Busan-style multteok (rice cake) skewers, assorted fish cake soup, grilled sausages and chicken, and chotang tofu with aged kimchi samhap (three-way combination). It is a place where you can relax comfortably in a leisurely and tranquil atmosphere.
◆SeeGO= Gwanggyo Lake Park is the best. It is an urban resting place for families and couples. The Woncheon Amusement Park was restored to be closer to nature. Tens of thousands of trees, including large trees and shrubs, were planted in the existing forest, transforming it into an eco-friendly park. The most essential space is the Urban Levee. It means ‘a new urban embankment that accommodates both daily life and festivals in the city.’ Along with the Urban Levee, the park consists of six themes: Mysterious Water Edge, Fun Field, Shindae Lake Distant Island Forest, Community Forest, Happy Meadow, Quiet Water Forest, and Fragrant Flower Island. Walking paths and bicycle roads are built along the lake. At night, the night view combining the lake and Gwanggyo New Town is spectacular.
Aqua Planet Gwanggyo is also a great place to visit in winter. With a total floor area of 6,500㎡ (about 1,970 pyeong) and a tank capacity of 2,000 tons, you can meet about 30,000 marine creatures of 210 species, including sand tiger sharks, small-clawed otters, and penguins. It consists of nine zones. About 500 piranhas create a spectacular sight, and you can see unique crustaceans from around the world. That’s not all. Jellyfish, penguins, and sharks are also popular. Aqua Planet Gwanggyo offers not only basic animal viewing but also various ecological education and experiences.
