Pocheon City, New City Hall Completion: "A New Leap, Reborn as a Space for Citizens"

Strengthening Public Services Starting on the 6th
Enhancing Work Efficiency by Allocating Key Departments in the New Office Building

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) completed the expansion construction of the new city hall and held a completion ceremony on the 6th to officially announce the strengthening of public services.

The completion ceremony proceeded in the order of a pre-ceremony performance by the municipal art troupe and classical popera, commendation of meritorious persons, ribbon cutting, commemorative tree planting, and a tour of the city hall.


The new city hall expansion project began in 2016, demolishing five existing buildings, including the disaster situation room, which were scattered, and constructing a new city hall with a total floor area of 8,102㎡ (1 basement floor, 5 above-ground floors). The total project cost was 31.9 billion KRW, including 24 billion KRW for construction, 2.32 billion KRW for construction project management services, and 1 billion KRW for equipment purchases.


The new city hall houses major departments to improve work efficiency and citizen convenience. △ On the 1st floor are the Permit Officer and Food Hygiene Division △ On the 2nd floor are the Mayor’s Office, Deputy Mayor’s Office, Public Relations Officer, and Autonomous Administration Division △ On the 3rd floor are the Welfare Policy Division, Women and Family Division, and Senior and Disabled Division △ On the 4th floor are the Culture and Sports Division, Corporate Support Division, Tourism Division, Housing Division, Architecture Division, along with a caf? and outdoor garden △ On the 5th floor are the Residential Environment Division, New Growth Business Division, and Forest and Park Division.


Additionally, a 1,629㎡ natural grass plaza called Citizen Plaza was created as a place for citizens to relax and enjoy cultural performances. The plaza is equipped with wooden benches, a cooling fog system, a stage area, and spectator seats.


Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “With the completion of the new city hall, we can provide better administrative services to our citizens. Based on the improved facilities and systematic work system, we will embark on a new leap forward and provide public services that allow citizens to feel real changes.”
