"Full Effort to Secure Budget for Livelihood and Local Projects"
Kim Moon-su, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gokseong, and Gurye Gap), has been appointed as a member of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Budget and Accounts (hereinafter referred to as the Budget Committee). The Budget Committee is a key parliamentary body that conducts the final review and approval of the government’s budget proposals, serving as the last gateway through which next year’s budget is finalized after parliamentary scrutiny.
As a member of the Budget Committee, Representative Kim stated that he will block tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy, drastically reduce special activity expenses and specific task costs of key power institutions such as the Ministry of Justice and the Presidential Secretariat, and adjust budgets for projects with low effectiveness to ensure fiscal soundness. He emphasized that he plans to cut the budget for mental health projects, which passed without prior feasibility studies and became controversial as the “Kim Geon-hee budget.”
Representative Kim said, “I will boldly adjust unnecessary budgets to ensure that taxpayers’ money is not wasted and do my best to secure budgets essential for the public’s livelihood. I will also devote all efforts to securing budgets so that education expenses, such as free high school education which have been drastically cut under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, and major projects in Gwangju and Jeonnam can proceed smoothly.”
