This drill was carried out in cooperation with related organizations such as the Korea Elevator Safety Agency, Dongducheon Fire Station, and elevator maintenance companies. The purpose of the drill is to raise awareness of the risks associated with elevator accidents and to strengthen rapid life-saving capabilities.
The drill began with education on elevator accident cases and prevention measures, followed by simulated rescue training and an experience with an elevator safety vehicle. The simulated rescue training assumed a situation where passengers were trapped inside an elevator due to a power outage.
Additionally, the process where passengers report through the emergency communication device, the management entity requests rescue from the fire station and maintenance company, and the 119 rescue team conducts real-time rescue activities was broadcast live, delivering a realistic rescue situation and enhancing the training effect.
Mayor Park Hyeong-deok of Dongducheon said, "Elevator safety accidents can occur anytime and anywhere unpredictably, so it is most important to prepare and educate in advance," adding, "I hope this drill helps develop the ability to respond effectively when faced with sudden situations."
Meanwhile, as part of elevator safety accident prevention activities, Dongducheon City plans to broadcast promotional videos related to elevator safety rules on elevator monitors in apartments within the city.
