Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 6th that it will operate the “Pocheon City Citizen Safety Insurance and Bicycle Insurance” with expanded coverage for citizen safety until October 26, 2025.
The Pocheon City Citizen Safety Insurance and Bicycle Insurance is a disaster safety insurance that helps Pocheon citizens (including registered foreigners) return to daily life when they suffer damage due to unexpected disasters, accidents, or life and bodily safety incidents during everyday activities.
This year, a new coverage item, “Injury Accident Diagnosis Payment (excluding traffic injuries),” has been added to the existing 27 items such as injury, death, and aftereffects caused by explosion, fire, collapse, landslide, and electric shock. Accordingly, Pocheon citizens can receive a diagnosis payment of 100,000 KRW for diagnoses of 4 weeks or more, and 150,000 KRW for diagnoses of 6 weeks or more due to injury accidents.
The coverage amount for bicycle (including personal mobility devices) accidents has also been expanded. In the event of death or aftereffects caused by a bicycle accident, up to 15 million KRW is covered; for treatment lasting 4 weeks or more, from 300,000 KRW to 700,000 KRW; and for hospitalization of 6 days or more, an additional 100,000 KRW is provided on top of the existing 200,000 KRW, totaling 300,000 KRW.
The insurance is automatically enrolled without a separate subscription procedure when moving into Pocheon City, and it is automatically canceled if the insured moves to another city or county during the insurance period.
Insurance claims must be filed by the insured or legal heirs within 3 years from the date of the accident. Citizens wishing to file a claim can download the application form from the Pocheon City Hall website under the menu ‘Information by Category → Disaster Management → Citizen Safety Insurance and Bicycle Insurance,’ fill it out, and submit the required documents to the insurance company.
