20 Booths Featuring International Students from 24 Countries
Exchange of Traditional Food, Clothing, Games, and Performances
Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 6th that it held the ‘2024 DONG-A International Day’ event at the Bumin Campus on the 5th.
At the event, international cultural experiences such as traditional foods and games from various countries, promotion and events of Dong-A University’s international exchange programs, as well as club and country-specific performances were held.
The BASTARZ dance team, international student teams, Samulnori, Korean traditional dance, and Taekwondo performances captured the attention of students and local residents.
Additionally, international students from a total of 24 countries including Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, China, the Philippines, Myanmar, Russia, Pakistan, Ukraine, Taiwan, Germany, Singapore, Bangladesh, the EU, Tajikistan, and India set up 20 booths to share and exchange their cultures.
The Dong-A University International Exchange Department’s DAILY (International Student Integrated Supporters) and booths providing information on exchange and exchange programs were also operated.
Kristina, a student from Russia who participated in the event, said, “I am happy to meet friends from various countries and feel like I can become close to them. Since this event happens once a year, I really look forward to and wait for it every year. It is great to introduce our culture and food to Korean people.”
Yeokyungwon (3rd year, Business Administration), the leader of the International Exchange Department’s integrated supporters Daily, said, “We have been conducting various programs every month since March, and it is great to meet many students and showcase them at this event. We will do our best to prepare the remaining programs well so that international students can be satisfied and enjoy the events.”
Currently, Dong-A University has significantly increased its number of international students to about 1,900 from 49 countries, and its Korean Language Institute ranks sixth in the nation in terms of enrollment. Dong-A University holds the International Day annually to introduce the countries of origin of international students to students and local residents and to promote cultural exchange.
