Controversy Over 'Pre-Appointment Rumors' in the Public Recruitment of Heads of Gwangju Nam-gu Affiliated Organizations

Controversy over a 'pre-selection rumor' has arisen during the recruitment process for the CEO of an affiliated organization conducted by Nam-gu, Gwangju. The rumor has gained traction as a former senior official of Nam-gu Office, who was identified as the pre-selected candidate, reportedly submitted an application just before the deadline.

According to Nam-gu, Gwangju, on the 6th, a former senior official of Nam-gu Office submitted an application for the CEO position at the Nam-gu Urban Regeneration Village Cooperation Center, which closed on the 4th.

The district plans to evaluate qualifications and abilities based on the submitted documents, conduct a second interview on the 11th, and announce the final successful candidate within this month.

The Nam-gu Urban Regeneration Village Cooperation Center will oversee projects such as urban regeneration revitalization that the district office has been promoting. The recruitment announcement included eligibility for 'civil servant career holders,' which sparked controversy over whether the candidate was pre-selected.

The individual mentioned as the pre-selected candidate was unusually promoted from Director (Grade 4) at Nam-gu Office to Deputy Mayor (Grade 3). This has led to rumors that the recruitment was arranged by the district mayor to favor close associates.

In this regard, a Nam-gu official stated, “This recruitment allows executives of corporations or companies related to the relevant field to apply,” and added, “The pre-selection rumors circulating inside and outside the district office are not true.”
