The delivery ceremony was attended by Seol Sang-hee, Deputy Governor of Imsil, Jo Yong-min, Director of Livestock Resource Development at the National Institute of Animal Science, and Lee Chang-sik, Chairman of the Imsil Cheese Agricultural Cooperative. The delivered Jersey cows were introduced to dairy farms within the jurisdiction.

The ceremony took place in front of the cheese sculpture at the Imsil Cheese & Food Research Institute, along with a project briefing on the Jersey cow breeding project. This delivery of Jersey cows was made to the Imsil Cheese Agricultural Cooperative by the National Institute of Animal Science for the production of Jersey cow embryos, using 18-month-old heifers suitable for embryo production. The supply of Jersey cows follows the "Business Agreement for the Development of Domestic Dairy and Dairy Processing Industries" signed between Imsil-gun and the National Institute of Animal Science in December last year.

This year, the county received one Jersey cow and 30 frozen embryos from the National Institute of Animal Science. From next year until 2027, an additional 30 frozen embryos and 5 Jersey cows will be supported annually.

Jersey cows produce milk with higher protein and fat content compared to Holstein cows, and are expected to provide significant vitality to dairy farmers facing challenges such as declining domestic milk consumption and tariff-free dairy imports starting in 2026.

The county plans to continue producing various high-quality cheese products and conducting technological research in cooperation with the National Institute of Animal Science, Imsil Cheese Agricultural Cooperative, and Imsil Cheese & Food Research Institute to advance the dairy and cheese industries.

County Governor Shim Min said, "The supply of Jersey cows will expand the production of high-quality dairy products and contribute to revitalizing the local economy," adding, "We will continue to strive to strengthen the competitiveness of the dairy and dairy product industries."
