Violation of Animal Protection Act
"Discipline by Inflicting Physical Pain"
A dog training YouTuber who kicked their pet dog during training, sparking controversy over animal abuse, has been reported.
On the 6th, Animal Freedom Coalition announced that they reported trainer A from the 'Daengjjok Counseling Center' channel, which uploads pet dog behavior correction content, to the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul on the 23rd of last month for violating the Animal Protection Act.
The YouTuber has been suspected of animal abuse for kicking the pet dog with their foot or hanging it by the leash during the training process.
Animal Freedom Coalition pointed out, "The YouTuber has been uploading content of home-visit training upon requests for pet dogs exhibiting abnormal behavior. However, most of the training shown in the videos involves giving strong shocks to the dogs to stop their behavior, and this process includes acts that cause physical pain."
They added, "According to Article 10 of the Animal Protection Act, acts that cause pain or injury to animals are prohibited when there are other methods to prevent direct threats to human life or body or property damage. The YouTuber gave unnecessary physical pain even though the dog was no longer in a situation where it could harm people," they explained.
