The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency (Chief Park Seong-ju) announced on the 6th that, following the meeting held on the 7th of last month, it held another two-day meeting on the 4th with the Financial Supervisory Service, first-tier financial institutions, and mutual finance officials to prevent phishing crimes and promote cooperation.
The meeting was attended by 20 representatives from financial institutions in the Gwangju area. Appreciation certificates were awarded to those who contributed to phishing prevention, and the current status of voice phishing damage, recent cases, and methods were shared to broaden consensus on phishing prevention.
In particular, they urged improvements to the response system to minimize the burden on financial institution employees so they can promptly report to the police when large cash withdrawals occur, and called for more active attention.
The Gwangju Police plan to continue proactive prevention and publicity activities by broadcasting phishing crime prevention messages and promotional videos on highly visible large electronic billboards, in places with heavy foot traffic (stations, terminals, university festivals, etc.), as well as on monitors inside financial institutions.
