Safe and Convenient Forest Road Construction
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam has commenced preliminary detailed design to ensure the smooth progress of the forest road project for 2025.
According to the city on the 6th, the 2025 forest road project includes the commissioning of detailed designs for a total of 3.6 km, consisting of 2.4 km of main forest roads, 0.5 km of wildfire suppression roads, and 0.7 km of work roads.
Additionally, the city plans to design and construct structural improvements and repairs for 10.2 km of existing forest roads to manage them as disaster-safe roads.
This forest road detailed design project aims to create environmentally friendly forest roads (such as wildlife corridors and ecological ponds) that are safe from natural disasters like heavy rains and typhoons, while preserving the forest ecosystem.
The city plans to complete the design by early December, carry out preliminary procedures, and complete construction before the arrival of the rainy season in the first half of 2025.
Meanwhile, with the increase in forest timber volume, there is a need to strengthen the competitiveness of forest projects, and the role of forest roads in rapid response to natural disasters and improving transportation between mountain villages is becoming increasingly important.
In particular, as demand for forest leisure and other forest welfare services continues to rise, public opinion strongly calls for a new technological paradigm shift in forest utilization and conservation.
A city official stated, “Thanks to the active cooperation and consent of landowners of the parcels included in the 2025 project, smooth preparation of preliminary procedures was possible,” and added, “We hope for continued active cooperation from landowners for ongoing expansion and maintenance.”
