205 Second Grade Students Attend 'Candlelight Ceremony'

Gwangju University Department of Nursing, Nightingale Pledge Ceremony Gwangju University held the "Nightingale Pledge Ceremony" on the afternoon of the 5th at the main auditorium on the first floor of Hosim Hall on campus, with 205 second-year nursing students in attendance.

Gwangju University (President Kim Dong-jin) announced on the 6th that it held the "14th Nightingale Oath Ceremony" on the afternoon of the 5th at the first-floor auditorium of Hosim Hall on campus.


On this day, 205 second-year nursing students pledged through a candlelight ceremony to inherit the noble spirit and mission of Nightingale and to fulfill their responsibilities and duties for the development and well-being of humanity.


President Kim Dong-jin said, "I respectfully congratulate the Nightingale Oath Ceremony, where students dedicate themselves to healing the bodies and minds of the sick as their lifelong vocation," adding, "I sincerely support you to become a precious beacon of health in society, prioritizing human dignity with strong will and passion."


Kim Sook-jung, President of the Gwangju Nurses Association, encouraged the students in her congratulatory speech, saying, "The Nightingale Oath Ceremony is a meaningful occasion to inherit the noble nursing spirit of our predecessors," and "I hope you become nurses who respect human life, share pain and suffering, and contribute to humanity."


Meanwhile, Gwangju University's Department of Nursing has taken the lead in strengthening student capabilities through clinical practice and practical education, having obtained a 5-year accreditation in the "3rd Cycle Nursing Education Accreditation Evaluation" conducted by the Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing Education and being selected as an excellent institution in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "2020 Nursing College Practice Education Support Project." The university also operates master's and doctoral programs in nursing graduate school, supporting students in continuing their studies, obtaining certifications, and securing employment, thereby establishing itself as a cradle for nurturing nursing talent representing the region.
