Wando-gun, Winter Road Heavy Snow Countermeasures 'No Issues'

Secured 160 Tons of Calcium Chloride... Inspection of Snow Removal Material Spreaders and More

Wando County announced on the 6th that it held the '2024 Winter Road Snow Removal Measures Meeting' on the 1st at the county office's main conference room, attended by snow removal officers from each department and town, as well as related agency personnel.

This measures meeting was organized to minimize damage in anticipation of heavier snowfall this year compared to the average last winter.

The county secured 160 tons of calcium chloride and completed maintenance and inspection of 20 snow removal spreaders and 16 snow shovels. In particular, it additionally secured 300 bags of 15kg eco-friendly snow removal agents and plans to operate village snow removal teams to create a safe road environment together with residents through activities such as 'clearing snow in front of one's house.'

Additionally, snow removal officers from each department and town were instructed to designate their respective areas during snow removal operations to ensure systematic work.

Furthermore, a cooperative system was established with 11 related agencies including Wando Office of Education, Wando Police Station, Wando Coast Guard, and Wando Fire Station to enable ▲rescue activities ▲road control ▲rapid response, and relevant matters were communicated.

A county official stated, “We have completed preparations such as securing materials, equipment, and manpower to ensure smooth snow removal operations on winter roads and to prepare for heavy snowfall. We will make every effort to prevent natural disasters occurring during the winter season.”
