The Korea Deloitte Group announced on the 6th that it successfully held the ‘2024 Korea Deloitte Group Corporate Governance Development Center Webinar’ on the 5th. This webinar provided an opportunity to analyze the current domestic and international status on the supervisory role of disclosure by the board of directors and audit committee, and to suggest future directions.

The webinar covered topics such as management indicators and ESG disclosure, corporate misconduct and the role of the board, improvements in disclosure supervision, and corporate value-up program disclosures and the role of the board, with in-depth discussions conducted through four sessions.


In the first session, Professor Seungwon Yoo of Korea University Business School gave a lecture titled ‘Management Indicators and ESG Disclosure: Communication with the Capital Market.’ Professor Yoo emphasized that strengthening ESG disclosure plays a crucial role in fairly evaluating corporate value and introduced specific cases related to the increasing social demand for management indicators and ESG disclosure issues.


In the second session, Professor Junhwa Noh of Chungnam University Department of Business Administration presented on ‘Corporate Misconduct and the Role of the Board,’ discussing recent cases of misconduct by directors and auditors and countermeasures. He highlighted the importance of outside directors with expertise and their responsible roles in building trust in the capital market through audit cases utilizing digital forensics.


In the third session, Partner Junghoon Oh of Korea Deloitte’s Audit Division presented on global ESG disclosure regulatory changes and the differences in roles of the board and audit committee reflecting these changes. Partner Oh proposed improvements to key indicators in corporate governance reports and mentioned the necessity of governance improvements in the current business environment.


In the final session, Partner Junho Jang of the Integrated Financial Services Group explained the importance of the governance body leading the process of enhancing corporate value in his presentation on ‘Disclosure of Corporate Value-Up Programs and the Role of the Board.’ He suggested directions for promoting domestic corporate value-up programs by referencing Japanese cases and emphasized the supervisory role of the board.


Kim Hanseok, Director of the Corporate Governance Development Center, stated, "Going forward, Korea Deloitte Group will continue research and support for the advancement and development of corporate governance."
