Former President Donald Trump is predicted to secure the Republican strongholds of Indiana and Kentucky on the 5th (local time). His competitor, Vice President Kamala Harris, is expected to claim Vermont, a Democratic stronghold.

AP News made these predictions regarding the outcomes in the three states where vote counting is underway. Indiana and Kentucky, where polls closed first at 6 p.m. Eastern Time, have 11 and 8 electoral votes respectively. Vermont, with a relatively smaller population, has 3 electoral votes.

With about 13-17% of votes counted in Indiana and Kentucky, former President Trump is leading Vice President Harris by more than 30 percentage points. AP explained that it makes a "winner call" when the gap between candidates exceeds 15 percentage points based on its own collected data.

Accordingly, AP's analysis indicates that former President Trump has secured 19 electoral votes, while Vice President Harris has secured 3 electoral votes. To win the U.S. presidential election, a candidate must secure a majority of 270 out of the 538 electoral votes allocated across 50 states and Washington D.C.

Among the battleground states in this election, Georgia was the first to close polls at 7 p.m. Eastern Time and begin counting votes. However, due to a bomb threat in Fulton County, Georgia, voting operations were temporarily suspended this morning, and the voting hours at five polling stations are expected to be extended.

Other battleground states are scheduled to close polls at 8 p.m. Eastern Time in Pennsylvania, 9 p.m. in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona, and 10 p.m. in Nevada.

The latest poll closing time is in Alaska, which will close at 1 a.m. on the 6th Eastern Time.
