Uijeongbu City Proposes Securing Self-Sufficiency Functions in 'New Public Housing Promotion Plan'

Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) actively welcomed the inclusion of the former 306 Supplementary Unit site in Yonghyeon-dong in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's announcement of new housing site candidates in the metropolitan area on the 5th.

On that day, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced a plan to create new housing sites with a scale of 50,000 units in four metropolitan areas including Seoul and Gyeonggi by easing greenbelt regulations as a follow-up measure to revitalize housing supply.

The Yonghyeon district in Uijeongbu City included in this plan is a public housing district with about 7,000 units, including the former 306 Supplementary Unit site.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun of Uijeongbu expressed his welcome but also stated, "We need to carefully consider the anxiety and concerns of residents who will lose their homes due to this national project."

He continued, "It is necessary to secure self-sufficient facilities and build specialized industrial infrastructure, such as the development of Pangyo Techno Valley, so that the Yonghyeon public housing district can expand self-sufficient functions in advanced business sectors for future generations."

In this regard, the city is conducting a public inspection notice and collecting residents' opinions related to the 'Designation of Uijeongbu Yonghyeon Public Housing District' at the City Hall's Urban Policy Division and Urban Agriculture Division (formerly Agricultural Technology Center) until the 25th. Citizens can submit their opinions during this period.
