This visit was arranged to discuss international exchange cooperation plans between the two cities. The delegation, led by Vice Mayor Kim Jeong-min, attended the "70th Anniversary Celebration of Fujieda City's Municipal System Implementation and the 40th Anniversary Ceremony of the International Friendship Association."
On this day, Vice Mayor Kim and the delegation had a cordial meeting with Mayor Kitamura Shohei and took time to discuss ways to further activate exchanges and practical cooperation between the two cities.
They then visited the Fujieda City General Hospital and listened to hospital officials about the role of regional medical institutions.
Following Yangju City's selection in September as the site for the Northeast Gyeonggi Innovative Public Medical Center, the visit aimed to inspect the management methods and main projects of Fujieda City General Hospital. The delegation engaged in in-depth questions and answers with hospital officials, having a more enthusiastic session than ever before, and reportedly mentioned the potential for cooperation in the medical field between the two cities.
Vice Mayor Kim Jeong-min stated, "It is a great opportunity for cities with diverse backgrounds and cultures to understand each other's cultures and simultaneously form new partnerships," expressing the intention to expand cooperation across various fields in the future.
He added, "We have learned many lessons from Fujieda City's advanced public medical system, and since Yangju City recently secured a public medical center, Fujieda City's experience will be of great help."
Meanwhile, Yangju City and Fujieda City have continuously maintained exchanges since signing a sister city agreement in 2012, and plan to create opportunities for joint development in various fields and strengthen cooperation in administration, education, culture, economy, and other areas.
