According to the Goyang Cultural Foundation on the 5th, the musical "Sachil," titled after the communication slang "Sachil (47)" meaning "understood" used among firefighters, was written by playwright Park Min-jae. He incorporated his own experiences serving as a paramedic firefighter, including being rescued due to a malfunction in his breathing apparatus during an apartment fire, as well as stories from living alongside actual firefighters. The realism to be showcased at SaeraSae Theater is drawing significant attention.
This performance portrays the cheerful aspects of life through the friendship of two firefighter protagonists, Jeong-won and Lee Jun, while also exploring reflections on life and death hidden within everyday familiarity. As a mystery psychological musical centered on the theme of "memory," it addresses the universal subject of "death," which everyone has pondered at least once, creating a broad sense of empathy. At the same time, it depicts the lonely struggle to not forget someone precious, offering a new perspective on "life" and "death."
The role of "Ahn Jeong-won," who was known as an elite firefighter since his paramedic days and was highly regarded for being the best at extinguishing fires even after appointment, but now works indoors in the fire administration and equipment warehouse, is played by Byeon Hee-sang. He was active in the theater troupe Sagye and resumed his domestic activities vigorously in 2021 with the musical "Rebecca," expanding his spectrum through small theaters with musicals like "Eli" and "Trace You."
The role of "Kang Lee-jun," who became a formal firefighter admiring Jeong-won’s strong sense of duty as a firefighter and has a warm and gentle heart, is played by rising star Hong Ki-beom, who has shown bright and positive energy in musicals such as "Beastie" and "Eli."
Audiences who first saw the 2023 premiere of the musical "Sachil" in Daehangno left various reviews such as "a performance that makes you feel the hardships of firefighters," "solid story and impressive stage direction," and "a healing performance." It recorded an 86% paid audience occupancy rate and has formed a fan base since its premiere, receiving praise as a performance that offers both emotion and entertainment.
This performance was selected for the "2024 Regional Customized Small and Medium Content Distribution Support Project," hosted by the Arts Management Support Center, organized by the Goyang Cultural Foundation and Neo Production, and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Tickets are priced at 30,000 KRW for all seats and can be purchased on the Goyang Cultural Foundation website. Various discount policies, including early bird and youth discounts, are also available.
