Various Programs at Gijang Market Bogwang Shopping Center from 4th to 16th
Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) is operating a pop-up store called ‘Banchan Ilgijang’ on the 3rd floor of Bogwang Shopping Center, the autonomous commercial district of Gijang Market, until the 16th.
This pop-up store is promoted as part of the Neighborhood Commercial District Development Center support project, organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and selected through a public contest this year. It is a collaborative effort among ▲Gijang-gun ▲Local by Local ▲Dasi Busan ▲Gijang Market Autonomous Commercial District Cooperative to create a local business model and revitalize the Gijang Market commercial district.
‘Banchan Ilgijang’ is conducted in cooperation with the local restaurant Sobanbom (located in Chilam-ri, Ilgwang-eup). Every morning, seasonal ingredients such as seaweed, anchovies, and green onions, purchased directly from Gijang Market, are used to prepare healthy meals on the spot and various side dishes are made and sold.
During lunchtime, a ‘Local Banchan Pop-up’ offering a single plate meal consisting of about five seasonal side dishes is available, along with a ‘Chojangjip Pop-up’ program where customers bring ingredients purchased directly from Gijang Market and receive instant cooking using those ingredients. In the evening, a ‘Dining Pop-up’ featuring carefully selected course meals made with raw ingredients from Gijang Market is held.
Additionally, a ‘Seasonal Ingredient Banchan Class,’ a cooking class where participants shop at Gijang Market with the banchan store owner and immediately prepare side dishes, is also offered, along with various other programs utilizing raw materials from Gijang Market.
Jeong Jong-bok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, “Gijang Market is a representative traditional market of the county where fresh seafood and various agricultural products can be purchased all year round,” and added, “I hope many people visit Banchan Ilgijang to enjoy delicious food and have a good opportunity to shop in Gijang.”
The Chojangjip Pop-up, Dining Pop-up, and Banchan Class programs operate by reservation only. Detailed information on operating hours, periods, and participation methods for each program can be found on the ‘Banchan Ilgijang’ Instagram.
