On the 5th at 10 a.m., Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk, held the '44th Joint Memorial Ceremony for the Victims of Freedom Protection' at the Anti-Communist Memorial Monument in Woloe-ri, Cheongsong-eup, organized by the Korea Freedom Federation Cheongsong-gun Branch (Branch Chief Park Kyung-soon).
On this day, the memorial ceremony was attended by about 150 people, including Cheongsong-gun Governor Yoon Kyung-hee, heads of various institutions and organizations, veterans' groups, bereaved families of the victims, and residents, to honor the spirits of those who sacrificed for the country.
In his memorial address, Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “We commemorate the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs who gave their lives for freedom and peace and pray for their eternal rest,” adding, “I hope this joint memorial ceremony will be a time to reflect on the loyalty of the patriotic martyrs and strengthen our resolve for national security.”
The Joint Memorial Ceremony for the Victims of Freedom Protection is an annual event held to console the spirits of those who were sacrificed due to communist uprisings after liberation, victims of communism during the Korean War, armed communist infiltrations, and other atrocities committed by communists.
