Busan Office of Education Holds 'Busan Education Hanmadang' with Participation of Students, Parents, Faculty, and Citizens

Real-Time Interactive Classes Demonstrated On-Site in Education Policy

Sharing Education Policy Achievements, Students' Diverse Performances

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yun-su) will hold the ‘2024 Busan Education Festival’ for three days starting from the 6th at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2 in Haeundae-gu, targeting students, parents, teachers, and citizens.

Under the slogan “Beyond Busan, to the Center of Education in Korea,” this event aims to share the achievements of Busan education this year and the direction for the future.

The opening ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. on the 6th with an enjoyable performance prepared by the Office of Education’s policy communication ambassador ‘Haha’ and students.

The Office of Education plans to operate the event as an educational festival involving the entire educational community. It has prepared three areas: ‘Busan Education Conference,’ ‘Busan Education Policy Hall,’ and ‘Research School Hall,’ along with various performances and side events to create a festive atmosphere.

The ‘Busan Education Conference’ will be held as a performance report meeting to report and share the achievements of Busan education policies. Through three sessions?‘Academic Achievement,’ ‘Future,’ and ‘Neulbom·Character·Welfare’?policy seminars, forums, and special lectures for parents will be conducted.

The ‘Busan Education Policy Hall’ will feature 16 halls, including the Academic Achievement Change Hall, Digital Future Education Hall, and Busan-style Neulbom Hall, sharing the achievements of Busan education by theme.

The biggest feature of this year’s Busan Education Festival is that visitors can experience the actual implementation of Busan education policies, rather than simply viewing booths or participating in simple experience programs.

Among these, the most eye-catching is the Digital Future Classroom. This classroom will conduct real-time three-way live classes connecting BEXCO, virtual spaces, and school sites. Weekend and seasonal schools by WeCanDo, as well as Busan-style internet lectures, will be demonstrated as digital-based real-time interactive classes, allowing students present at the exhibition site to participate.

Another must-visit place at this exhibition is the ‘Busan-style Neulbom Hall.’ The Neulbom Hall consists of a learning-type Neulbom classroom operating high-quality learning Neulbom programs, a care Neulbom classroom staffed with caregivers, and a Neulbom promotional hall.

Children can participate in the learning-type Neulbom programs, and since the care Neulbom classroom will be actually operated during the event, it is expected to be popular among parents accompanying their children.

Additionally, there is the ‘Reading Change Hall’ where families can read together, the ‘Academic Achievement Change Hall’ which reproduces a self-directed learning room built in high schools, and a ‘Promotional Hall’ where policies in areas such as academic achievement improvement, future education, character education, educational welfare, safety and health, and innovative communication led by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education nationwide can be seen at a glance.

On the central stage, various performances such as student orchestras, pungmul nanta, dance, and choir will be held. Also, a Reading Golden Bell quiz involving about 400 elementary and middle school students and a Morning Change activity to awaken sleeping classrooms will take place.

Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “This event will be a living expo where major Busan education policies can be confirmed not through simple exhibitions or experiences but through real-time interactive classes,” and added, “I hope the Busan Education Festival will be a stepping stone for moving ‘Beyond Busan, to the Center of Education in Korea’ through the growth of students and the communication and harmony of the educational community.”
