Japan Tokyo Stock Exchange to Extend Trading Hours by 30 Minutes Starting Today

The trading hours of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in Japan will be extended by 30 minutes starting from the 5th.

NHK reported that from this day, the closing time of the Tokyo stock market will change from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM.

This extension of the closing time at the Tokyo Stock Exchange is the first in 70 years since it was delayed from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in 1954.

NHK stated, "Although the extension of trading hours was decided following a system failure in 2020, attention is also focused on whether it will lead to market revitalization."
