Promotion of Seafood and Small-Scale Seafood Processing and Distribution Companies' Products for the Third Year
Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) will participate in the '2024 Busan International Fisheries EXPO (BISFE 2024)' held from the 6th to the 8th at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 in Haeundae.
This event is the only fisheries-specialized expo in Korea, hosted by Busan City and organized by BEXCO, the Korea Fisheries Trade Association, the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, and the Small and Medium Business Distribution Center. It features participation from 364 companies across 22 countries and operates on a scale of 1,062 booths.
Gijang-gun will operate an independent booth again this year, following its participation in 2022 and 2023. It will promote Gijang’s excellent seafood products such as seaweed, kelp, and anchovies internationally while supporting local seafood processing companies in developing distribution channels.
This year’s event will include two local seafood processing companies selected through a recruitment announcement and the newly established 'Daebyeon Fishery Village Market' created through the seafood distribution facility construction project, participating jointly.
Additionally, at the Gijang-gun booth, under the theme 'Gijang Dried Seafood Exploration, Hidden Gems,' there will be an exhibition and promotional opportunity for representative products of small local seafood processing companies that could not participate in the expo due to reasons such as manpower shortages.
Jeong Jong-bok, Governor of Gijang-gun, stated, “At this EXPO, we will actively promote the excellence of Gijang seafood and introduce various local seafood distribution and processing companies to invigorate the regional fisheries industry.”
The companies jointly participating in this event include ‘Haeoreum Bio,’ a seaweed extract processing specialist using Gijang specialties, and ‘Gijang Saramdeul,’ a company specializing in the development of Gijang Heart Seaweed and the production, distribution, and sales of Gijang seafood. Also, the former street vendors of Daebyeon Port, ‘Daebyeon Fishery Village Market,’ will participate directly to introduce a variety of high-quality and affordable dried seafood products and promote their newly renovated store.
