Night Program for Working Pregnant Women Receives 'Positive Reviews'

On the 4th, Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu announced that it was selected as an excellent institution for the ‘Nutrition Plus Project’ targeting pregnant women and infants, and received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluated detailed criteria such as the operation performance and best practices of the Nutrition Plus Project nationwide at public health centers, selecting the top 12 centers including Seo-gu as excellent institutions. Seo-gu received high praise for improving the quality of Nutrition Plus services by conducting night programs for working pregnant women.

The Nutrition Plus Project is a program that provides customized nutrition education and nutritional support for vulnerable groups such as infants and pregnant women to promote future health.

Selected participants are supplied with customized supplementary food packages (6 types) to evenly supplement necessary nutrients, and various programs such as nutrition education, home visit counseling, and regular nutrition assessments are provided for up to one year.

Seo-gu is working to discover new participants in cooperation with local communities such as family centers, Dream Start, and Dong administrative welfare centers, and operates various nutrition education programs for vulnerable infants and pregnant women.

Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “This award is the result of actively discovering pregnant women and infants in nutritional blind spots and making efforts to improve the health level of local residents through cooperation with various related organizations and nutrition education.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to promote the health of infants and pregnant women.”
