Yeongju City, located in the pristine area of Sobaeksan, will participate in the '2024 Gyeongbuk Apple Promotion Event' held at Seoul City Hall Plaza from the 4th to the 6th, widely promoting Yeongju apples, which boast the best taste and quality.
Under the theme 'Ijoa! Gyeongbuk Kkokji Apple,' this event, now in its 19th year, features 14 cities and counties from Gyeongbuk's major apple-producing regions showcasing their representative brand apples and local specialties. The event offers on-site sales as well as various experiential programs and entertainment.
The city plans to firmly establish the value of Yeongju apples, recognized for their quality, by specially selling 800 boxes (2.5 kg each) of Yeongju apples to consumers at a discounted price of 10,000 won, which is cheaper than the market price.
At the event venue, not only Yeongju apples but also Yeongju’s local specialties such as Punggi ginseng, bellflower root candy, honey, and bugak (fried vegetable chips) will be exhibited and promoted. Various agricultural specialties infused with the energy of Sobaeksan will be showcased, providing Seoul citizens with an opportunity to experience the excellence of Yeongju agricultural products.
Yeongju apples grow in the pristine natural environment at 36.5 degrees north latitude in the Sobaeksan area, where the large temperature difference between day and night results in dense flesh and high sugar content, giving them excellent taste and aroma.
A city official stated, “This promotional event is a great opportunity to highlight the excellent taste and quality of Yeongju apples and specialties and to further enhance the brand value of Yeongju agricultural products. We will actively strive to establish Yeongju apples as a national representative apple.”
