Yeom Mo (31), the president of a joint club centered around prestigious universities in the Seoul metropolitan area, who was prosecuted for purchasing and using drugs, partially admitted to the charges.
The Criminal Division 14 of the Seoul Southern District Court (Chief Judge Jang Seong-hoon) held the second trial session on the morning of the 4th for Yeom, who was indicted on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances, marijuana) and others.
Yeom acknowledged the facts related to handling and trading narcotics but argued that the prosecution's charges violated legal provisions and requested dismissal of the indictment.
Yeom's defense attorney stated, "He admits all charges related to drug use and sales, deeply regrets his actions, and asks for leniency as these acts were conducted only through a small number of acquaintances."
However, the defense also requested dismissal of the indictment, arguing that "in certain crimes, prosecutors are not authorized to initiate investigations."
Yeom is accused of recruiting about 300 members in a short period by providing luxurious drinking parties funded by drug sales profits and using drugs together with the members.
