Gwangju City Gwangjiwon Nongak Troupe Deploys to United Arab Emirates to Spread K-Nongak Wave

Gwangju City Gwangjiwon Nongak Troupe Deploys to United Arab Emirates to Spread K-Nongak Wave Gwangju City Hall exterior.

The Gwangju City Gwangjiwon Nongak Troupe announced on the 4th that they will perform Nongak at the 'Korea Festival 2024' held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for two days from the 15th to the 16th.

This 'Korea Festival 2024' is an event hosted and organized by the Korean Cultural Center in the United Arab Emirates and the UAE Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, aimed at promoting friendship between South Korea and the UAE, spreading culture, and establishing a foundation for active exchanges between the two countries.

Especially this year, as a large-scale project in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, the festival will begin with the opening ceremony of the 'Garden of Tolerance,' attended by ministers from the UAE Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, followed by diverse and rich stages including Taekwondo performances and K-pop concerts, as well as various experiential programs such as a Korean language speaking contest.

The Gwangju City Gwangjiwon Nongak Troupe, invited last year by the UAE Korean Cultural Center, has been invited again this year to present an exciting 'traditional Nongak' performance locally in the United Arab Emirates.

Along with this, the city plans to operate a promotional booth during the event period, focusing on introducing Gwangju to the world through traditional instrument experiences, a photo zone with the Su-eo Jangdae background, and providing promotional materials.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, "I am very pleased and proud that our city's proud municipal arts troupe has been invited by the United Arab Emirates to spread wonderful K-Nongak to the world," and added, "Based on this invitation performance, we expect more opportunities for cultural exchange with the UAE in the future, and we will continue to develop our city's cultural and artistic capabilities to widely promote Gwangju to the world."
