'Thank You' for Contributing to the Revitalization of Gwangyang Port Container Terminal
Over 20 Practitioners from 6 Shipping and Logistics Companies Attended
Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on the 4th that it held the 2024 Y.E.S. Day invitation event over two days until the 1st, targeting shipping lines belonging to shipping alliances that have a high contribution to generating cargo volume at Gwangyang Port.
Y.E.S. Day (YGPA Excellent Service Day) is a customer appreciation event that the Authority has been promoting since 2022 under the management policy of ‘customer first,’ targeting shipping lines, forwarders, and other maritime logistics companies that have significantly contributed to revitalizing the container terminals at Gwangyang Port.

This event was attended by more than 20 working-level staff from six shipping lines, including MSC, the world's number one container shipping line by capacity this year, Maersk, the top user of Gwangyang Port, as well as CMACGM, Hapag-Lloyd, HMM, and Yang Ming, which belong to the three major shipping alliances.
At the briefing session, the Authority shared cases of export process improvements through logistics cost reduction and listened to measures to increase cargo volume at Gwangyang Port, such as the need to expand the opening of deep-sea routes. In particular, during the opinion-gathering session for the development of Gwangyang Port, various discussions and suggestions were made to revitalize the container terminal, including the direction of liner services at Gwangyang Port after the reorganization of shipping alliances.
An official from the Authority stated, “We will make every effort to revitalize Gwangyang Port by actively reflecting opinions on attracting local cargo generated in the areas near Gwangyang Port and expanding port utilization.”
Meanwhile, the container cargo volume at Gwangyang Port has shown a 7.2% increase as of the end of September.
