26 Violin Brands Participate
35 Quality Performances Held on Stage
The only musical instrument & audio equipment exhibition in Korea, the ‘2024 Daegu International Musical Instrument and Audio Equipment Expo,’ will be held at EXCO for three days starting on the 8th. Now in its third year, the Daegu International Musical Instrument & Audio Equipment Expo has been held annually since its launch in 2022 to promote the music infrastructure and history of Daegu Metropolitan City, designated as a UNESCO City of Music, and to revitalize the musical instrument industry and culture.
This year’s exhibition will be held on the largest scale ever, with 200 booths from 120 companies. The number of participating companies has increased by more than 70% compared to last year (70 companies), and overseas participants from China, Japan, the United States, Taiwan, and other countries have also expanded. Visitors can thoroughly explore everything related to musical instruments and audio equipment, including a wide variety of instruments such as classical instruments, keyboard instruments, percussion instruments, and unique instruments, as well as audio equipment like recording devices and amplifiers, soundproof booths, microphone stands, and accessories.
At the Guitar Brand Conference Zone, 40 famous domestic and international guitar brands will participate, allowing visitors to see various guitar brands such as Corona guitars and Ventivolio guitars all in one place. The world-famous artist studio exhibition zone, created by soundproof booth specialist ‘Musikus,’ will feature booths reproducing home recording studios of artists like Charlie Puth and Billie Eilish, providing visitors interested in home recording with hands-on experiences.
The Violin Village, organized by the four major violin associations in Korea, is the country’s largest string instrument exhibition with 26 brands participating, offering a rare opportunity to see a variety of string instruments. In the Classical Instrument Special Hall, visitors can purchase up to 150 used classical wind instruments at discounts of up to 30%, and unique booths such as an LP record market and overseas unique instrument experiences will also be available.
Additionally, there will be visitor experience booths for ukulele, traditional Korean instruments, and reed flute making, among others. Thirty-five engaging performances featuring saxophone, ocarina, guitar, and more will be held on the exhibition hall stage and lobby, captivating visitors’ eyes and ears.
Visitors are exploring unique foreign musical instruments at the instrument expo held at EXCO last year.
The exhibition hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and admission is free.
Meanwhile, this weekend EXCO will welcome citizens as a ‘festival ground’ where the whole family can enjoy together. In the West Hall of EXCO, the ‘Daegu International Musical Instrument and Audio Equipment Expo’ and the ‘42nd Daegu Baby & Kids Fair Hall’ for preparing children for winter will be held. In the East Hall, the artist-focused art fair ‘Diaf PLUS (East Hall 4, 5),’ part of the Daegu International Art Fair (Diaf), which has become one of Korea’s top three art fairs, and the ‘2024 Daegu Camp Fair (East Hall 6),’ showcasing camping and leisure paradigms at a glance, will take place. Also, busking performances will be held at the outdoor plaza of the West Hall on the 9th and 10th, expected to add to the romance of autumn.
