Meeting of Walking and Games at 'Horse Island'
The 1st Play Walk Horse Island Walking Competition, co-hosted by Korea Racing Authority Let's Run Park Busan-Gyeongnam (Head: Eom Young-seok) and Urban Sports, will be held on November 10 and 17 at Let's Run Park Horse Island.
Horse Island is a 30,000-pyeong (approximately 99,000 square meters) lake park located within the racetrack. Reopened last October after the COVID-19 pandemic, Horse Island is an ecological park where various migratory birds and rare plants naturally thrive around the lake.
This walking competition is a unique event combining walking and games for families, offering a joyful time to enjoy the autumn atmosphere with family and loved ones. To participate without burden, participants will walk the Horse Island trail (2.5 km), complete missions, and collect stamps. The winning team with the most stamps will receive a completion medal, snacks, and special souvenirs.
Participants will compete through five types of games set along the Horse Island course. The games include ‘Roll It! One Round Match’ decided by a giant dice, ‘Shoot for Love!’ where missions are completed with a soccer ball, the baseball game ‘Catch the Malmal,’ ‘Lucky Shoe Archery,’ and ‘Memory Challenge,’ which involves matching identical pictures.
Additionally, Let's Run Park Busan-Gyeongnam operates various programs suitable for all ages, such as a year-round sledding hill, children's horseback riding experience, and horse racing viewing.
At Horse Island Lake, visitors can see various birds such as egrets, herons, and mallards, and also meet mini horses leisurely resting in the fenced area. The colorful flower paths around the lake will provide participants with a healing experience.
Moreover, every weekend at Horse Island, visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake and tour around the park by riding an electric train. The tour train departing from Derby Square runs about 1 km along the lakeside trail through an underground passage beneath the racetrack.
A representative of Let's Run Park Busan-Gyeongnam said, “We expect that this event will allow families to enjoy fun experiences and fully appreciate the autumn atmosphere at Horse Island. We will do our best to invigorate not only family health but also regional tourism.”
The participation fee for this competition is 10,000 KRW, and applications can be made through the Urban Sports website. Detailed information about the event can be found on the Urban Sports website, Instagram, Facebook, and KakaoTalk channels.
