Following Korea Value-Up TR Index
Samsung Securities newly listed the "Samsung Korea Value-Up TR ETN," which is based on the Korea Value-Up TR Index, on the 4th.
The newly listed ETN tracks an index composed of 100 stocks selected based on various qualitative criteria such as profitability, shareholder returns, market evaluation, and capital efficiency, in addition to scale requirements like market representativeness and liquidity among stocks listed on the Korea Exchange. It follows the index at a positive 1x multiple, and all dividends generated from the constituent stocks are fully reinvested, making it a total return (TR) product.
The Samsung Korea Value-Up TR ETN diversifies investment across 100 undervalued blue-chip stocks within the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets, potentially allowing investors to benefit from stock price appreciation due to corporate value reassessment. As of October 28, 2024, the top weighted stocks in the Korea Value-Up TR Index include SK Hynix (17.0%), Samsung Electronics (11.2%), Hyundai Motor (7.5%), Celltrion (6.5%), and Shinhan Financial Group (6.1%).
This ETN, listed as a TR (total return) product, reinvests the income generated from investments. Additionally, it has a 0% management fee (expense ratio), meaning that the index fluctuations are fully reflected 100% in the indicator value without any expense deductions.
Unlike ETFs, which have no maturity date unless the fund is liquidated, the Samsung Korea Value-Up TR ETN issued by Samsung Securities has a maturity date of October 30, 2034, and can be traded until October 26, 2034.
A Samsung Securities official explained, "This will be a good opportunity for investors interested in the recently announced Value-Up Index to invest without any expense fees."
Meanwhile, Samsung Securities ETNs are issued based on various assets such as domestic and international stocks and commodities, providing customers with diverse investment opportunities. According to Bloomberg, Samsung Securities ETNs held a market share (M/S) of 55.3% in cumulative trading volume in 2024.
However, ETNs are products with a very high risk rating, so investors should confirm their investment preferences before investing and be aware of the risk of principal loss.
