Completion Within the Year After Finishing Auxiliary Construction

Yangsan City in Gyeongnam has completed the installation of an outdoor deck stage capable of hosting medium to large-scale events at Hwangsan Park Munju (West) Plaza, and plans to complete auxiliary works (sound, electricity, lighting, and walkway maintenance) within this year.

The deck stage measures 30m in width and 14.8m in length, and the tent structure pergola measures 35m in width, 19m in length, and 10m in height.

The city invested a budget secured through the active cooperation of Mayor Na Dong-yeon, local district council chairman Gwak Jong-po of Yangsan City Council, and Gyeongnam Provincial Assembly members Lee Young-su and Lee Yong-sik (5 billion KRW from city funds and 2 billion KRW from special adjustment grants) to resolve the long-standing demands of residents in Mulgeum-eup.

Starting next year, the outdoor stage at Munju West Plaza will serve as the main stage for various events such as the Mulgeum Cherry Blossom Festival (late March) and the Hwangsan Park ‘Mulgeum Friday Night Market’ (weekends in April and September). With the installation of the outdoor stage, Yangsan City will be able to reduce costs related to the setup and dismantling of temporary stages and auxiliary facilities for various events.

With this new outdoor stage, Yangsan citizens will have more opportunities to utilize spaces such as the Hwangsan Park busking performance area alongside the existing Jungbu Plaza stage, which is expected to greatly contribute to the revitalization of various cultural events through increased citizen participation.

A Yangsan City official stated, “In 2025, we plan to open a dedicated bulletin board for Hwangsan Park busking performances on the Yangsan City website to enhance convenience for citizens using the performance spaces at Hwangsan Park. Additionally, we plan to secure extra space in the lawn plaza to accommodate about 10,000 standing spectators.”
