Prosecutors "Reviewing Reapplication for Warrant After Supplementary Investigation"
The prosecution investigating the large-scale settlement delay incident involving TMON and WEMAKEPRICE (Timep) will summon and question Ryu Hwa-hyun, CEO of WEMAKEPRICE, and Ryu Kwang-jin, CEO of TMON, over two days on the 4th and 5th.
This is the first summons investigation since the arrest warrants for the two company CEOs and Koo Young-bae, chairman of Qoo10 Group, were dismissed on the 10th of last month.
According to the legal community on the 4th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office plans to summon the two CEOs again at 10 a.m. that day as suspects for questioning. The prosecution had requested arrest warrants last month for the two individuals and Chairman Koo on charges of fraud, embezzlement, and breach of trust, but the court dismissed the warrants citing reasons such as "there is room for dispute regarding the criminal charges."
The prosecution is also considering reapplying for the warrants. A prosecution official explained at a press briefing on the 24th of last month, "We are carefully reviewing the reasons for dismissal. In particular, we are focusing on the fact that there are 108 complaints filed with the prosecution office and 43 cases transferred by the police, with more than 150 victims." The official added, "At the time, despite knowing that settlement was impossible, promotions were carried out, causing sellers' sales to surge sharply, which increased the damage."
