Police Arrest Suspect in Dismembered Body Case of Woman in Her 30s Presumed from Hwacheon Bukhang River

Prime Suspect Arrested at Ilwon Station, Gangnam, Seoul

Several mutilated bodies, presumed to be a woman in her early 30s, were found in the Bukhan River in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, and a prime suspect has been apprehended by the police.

Hwacheon Police Station urgently arrested a man in his 30s, identified as A, on suspicion of murder at 7:12 p.m. on the 3rd near the underground passage at Irwon Station in Gangnam, Seoul.

The police received a report from residents around 2:45 p.m. the previous day that parts of a body had surfaced in the Bukhan River in front of Hwacheon Gymnasium in Hwacheon-eup, Hwacheon-gun, and began a search. Additionally, around 10:30 a.m. that day, they recovered several mutilated bodies wrapped in plastic near the Bung-eo Island pier.

Approximately 80% of the body has been recovered so far, and the state of decomposition is reported to be not severe.

The police are verifying the exact identity of the bodies and are investigating the circumstances of the case with suspect A.
