A domestic compact car, the Avante, collided with a Lamborghini Huracan, a supercar worth hundreds of millions of won, due to crossing the center line, drawing attention to how the incident will be handled. Meanwhile, the Lamborghini owner has requested that unfounded speculation be refrained from.

On the 3rd, the Lamborghini Huracan owner posted a direct account of the accident on the online community Bobae Dream. The owner, Mr. A, explained, "On the day of the accident, I was trying to exit an apartment entrance. A delivery truck was driving in front of the entrance, and I stopped briefly to allow my exit." He continued, "At that moment, the Avante vehicle did not wait for the delivery truck to stop and crossed the lane to go straight, and the collision occurred the moment I entered the road."

He added, "The Avante was traveling at a considerable speed at the time of the accident," and "According to the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the Avante’s brake lights were not on immediately before or after the collision." He further explained, "The Avante first struck the side of my vehicle with great force, and as my car was pushed, it also received additional impact on the rear fender."

Mr. A stated, "Due to the collision, the seat airbag in my car deployed, causing a fuse to blow, and the engine will not start. The total loss status has not yet been determined." He added, "Both insurance companies are currently handling the accident, and the fault ratio has not been calculated yet." He emphasized, "Fortunately, both parties are within the scope of insurance coverage, and I am also insured with the highest level of coverage, including uninsured motorist protection, so there is no need to worry."

Total loss processing is an insurance system that considers a vehicle a total loss when repair costs exceed 70-80% of the car’s value due to an accident or other damage.

Mr. A also said, "Many videos related to the accident have been uploaded online, revealing the face of the Avante driver." He requested, "This could lead to an invasion of personal privacy, so please refrain from sharing such videos." He continued, "Currently, the perpetrator and victim have not been clearly distinguished, and the other driver apologized first immediately after the accident." He earnestly asked, "I hope there will be no further misunderstandings or unnecessary controversies, and I sincerely request that speculative criticism or abusive language be avoided."

Earlier, a video of a collision between an Avante and a Lamborghini at the entrance of an apartment parking lot in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, was shared online. The video shows the Avante crossing the center line and colliding with a red Lamborghini that was turning left while exiting the apartment parking lot entrance. The person presumed to be the Avante driver is seen getting out of the car and covering their face while looking at the accident scene. Both vehicles sustained damage to the driver’s side.

According to eyewitnesses, the Avante tried to avoid a convenience store delivery vehicle that was parked temporarily to unload goods but failed to see the Lamborghini exiting from a side entrance, resulting in the accident. One netizen who saw the accident bitterly commented, "Both cars honestly got struck because of illegally parked vehicles in the alley."

Meanwhile, crossing the center line and illegal overtaking are among the 12 major traffic violations, which result in criminal liability in addition to civil liability regardless of insurance status. However, according to precedents, exceptions are recognized when a driver must swerve on a one-lane road due to construction or illegally parked vehicles.
