The newly opened Seohae Line double-track railway connects a 90.0 km section from Hongseong, Chungnam to Seohwaseong Station, serving both passenger and freight routes. To the south, it connects with the Janghang Line, providing a direct link from Iksan to the Jeolla and Honam Lines, while to the north, it connects to the Gyeongui Line via the Sinansan Line and the Wonsi~Sosa~Daegok route.

With the opening of the railway, it is expected that travel time will be reduced to about 30 minutes from Hongseong to Hwaseong Songsan, and about 15 minutes from Pyeongtaek Anjung to Hwaseong Songsan, shortening access times to major metropolitan hubs to within an hour.

As for the Poseung~Pyeongtaek Line, it connects the Seohae Line’s Anjung Station and the Gyeongbu Line’s Pyeongtaek Station over 22.8 km to handle cargo volumes from Pyeongtaek Port and its surrounding logistics complexes. Once passenger service begins, travel between Pyeongtaek Station and Anjung Station will take only 14 minutes, reducing travel time between the eastern and western parts of Pyeongtaek.

Jung Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, stated, "The opening of the Seohae Line double-track railway will greatly contribute to the development of the western region of Pyeongtaek and help resolve imbalances in transportation services. We will do our best to ensure that local residents experience no inconvenience in using the railway."
