Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) conducted the "2024 Disaster Response Safe Korea Training" on the 1st at the indoor ice rink located in Nokyang-dong, in conjunction with the comprehensive emergency rescue drill by Uijeongbu Fire Station (Chief Moon Tae-woong), simulating a large-scale fire in a multi-use facility.

This training was organized to strengthen response capabilities and check the initial response posture among related agencies in the event of an unexpected large-scale disaster.

Assuming a building collapse caused by an electrical fire at the indoor ice rink, the entire process from the initial disaster report to the dispatch of the fire rescue team, life rescue, firefighting, cleanup, and recovery was conducted.

In particular, as an integrated linkage drill, it was checked whether the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at the City Hall Disaster Safety Situation Room (headed by the Mayor) and the Integrated Support Headquarters at the disaster site (headed by the Vice Mayor) operated organically in real time.

Additionally, more than 350 people from 15 related agencies including Uijeongbu Fire Station and Uijeongbu Police Station, as well as five private organizations such as safety security officers, participated, and 55 pieces of equipment including fire trucks were mobilized to establish an integrated disaster cooperation system.

Moreover, this training utilized unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) from the Land Information Division to share real-time footage of the disaster site, confirming rapid situation assessment and enhanced disaster response capabilities during emergencies.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, "Safety can never be emphasized enough," and added, "Through repetitive training that simulates real situations during normal times, we will strengthen disaster management capabilities to make Uijeongbu a city resilient to disasters."
