Gwangju City Central Library Operates Special Bookshelf for Author Hangang Gwangju City is operating a "Special Bookshelf for Author Han Kang" to highlight the literary world of Han Kang, the first Korean to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 1st that it will create and operate a "Special Bookshelf for Author Han Kang" to highlight the literary world of Han Kang, the first Korean to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

The city prepared this special bookshelf to provide an opportunity to approach Han Kang's literature in a new way and to make it easier to access her relatively lesser-known works.

The special bookshelf has been set up inside the Literature Materials Room on the 2nd floor of the Central Library, where the author's representative works are collected and displayed for citizens to view at a glance.

The special bookshelf exhibits about 16 books, including major works by Han Kang such as Do Not Say We Have Nothing, The Vegetarian, and Human Acts, along with introductory texts.

Additionally, a transcription space has been provided where readers can write down sentences that left a strong impression while reading. For readers who find it insufficient to just finish reading, they can write memorable passages in the transcription space, share the emotional impact of the works with others, and communicate to deepen the lingering feelings of the books.

A city official said, "We hope the reading craze sparked by Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature will continue for a long time," adding, "We hope this will enrich citizens' reading lives, allow them to experience the literary depth of Han Kang, and contribute to the spread of reading culture."
