Dongdaemun-gu 'Daramjwi Bus' Route 8221 Increased from 12 to 17 Trips

From the 4th of this month, 5 additional runs added from the first trip, operating 17 times daily

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Ilhyung Lee) announced on the 1st that the operation frequency of the 'Daramjwi Bus' No. 8221 will be increased from the existing 12 times to 17 times starting from the 4th of this month.

The 'Daramjwi Bus' is a bus that repeatedly operates like a squirrel running on a wheel in sections crowded with passengers during weekday morning rush hours. It was introduced in March 2018 to alleviate congestion inside existing bus routes.

This increase in service frequency is based on residents' requests made during 'Hyunjang Tongtong,' a communication event where Mayor Ilhyung Lee meets directly with residents.

Based on the collected residents' opinions, the district quickly consulted with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and succeeded in increasing the weekday daily operation frequency of Bus No. 8221, which circulates between Dapsimni Station and Janghanpyeong Station, subway stations located in Dongdaemun-gu, to 17 times.

The changes will be applied starting from the first bus departing at 6:40 AM from in front of Janghan 2-dong Community Service Center on November 4th. The last bus (17th run) will depart from the community center at 8:50 AM.

Dongdaemun-gu's 'Daramjwi Bus' No. 8221 operates in a loop during weekday morning rush hours between Janghan 2-dong Community Service Center ~ Janghanpyeong Station (Subway Line 5) ~ turnaround ~ in front of Jeongok Market ~ Dapsimni Station (Subway Line 5). Boarding at Janghanpyeong Station and traveling to Jeongok Market is not allowed.

Mayor Ilhyung Lee of Dongdaemun-gu said, "We expect that this increase in service will help distribute the passengers of the Daramjwi Bus more evenly and provide residents with a more comfortable commute."
