Sequential Road Closures from Sangam World Cup Park to Olympic Park
Due to the '2024 JTBC Seoul Marathon' event hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and JTBC, traffic on major roads is expected to be restricted.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that traffic on major roads from Sangam World Cup Park to Olympic Park will be sequentially restricted due to the JTBC Seoul Marathon event taking place on the 3rd.
The section of Sangam World Cup Park, the gathering and starting point for the full course, will be closed from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Downtown roads such as Mapo-daero, Cheonggyecheon-ro, and Jongno will be restricted from 8:05 a.m. to 10:47 a.m., and the sections around Sinseol-dong Station, Gunja Bridge, Jamsil Bridge, and Olympic Park will be closed from 8:25 a.m. to 1:36 p.m. The route from Sangam-dong to Yeouido Park will be restricted from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. The police estimate that 15,000 participants will run the full course (42.195 km) and 20,000 will participate in the 10 km course.
To minimize traffic congestion and inconvenience to citizens, the police will deploy 1,437 personnel including traffic police on the day of the event and install 1,089 signs and banners around the restricted areas. The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to temporarily adjust bus routes within the restricted zones.
A police official urged, "Citizens traveling around the marathon course are advised to use public transportation such as the subway as much as possible, and vehicles traveling through the restricted areas should take long-distance detours and follow the hand signals of traffic police carefully."
